FAQ about the project

For safety reasons, the minimum age for participation in the Kao Man Shan Observatory's stargazing group is 5 years old.
Due to the constantly changing sunset times throughout the year, the stargazing sessions on different dates may vary.
The gathering place is located at the Dark Sky Project ticket office in Lake Tekapo, 1 Motuariki Lane, next to the only supermarket in the town. The supermarket is called Four Square
Only on clear night sky, if cancelled due to weather reasons, you will receive a full refund.
Please note that due to the relatively short duration of this stargazing group, we are unable to provide any services related to astronomical photography and do not recommend guests to bring a camera for photography
During the off-season, priority will be given to arranging the John Mountain Stargazing Group. Please consult with the Kaowen Mountain Stargazing Group in advance during the off-season
Unlike the John Mountain Stargazing Group, the Kaowen Stargazing Group and the Chinese Stargazing Group do not send out groups every night. Please consult in advance
Compared to the John Mountain Observatory, the telescope used by the Calvin Observatory has a similar aperture, but the observation time is shorter and the end time is relatively earlier. It is suitable for families with elderly or children (over 5 years old), as well as tourists with limited budgets or who need to wake up early the next day. The most important thing is that the starry sky effect seen by the two observatories under the same weather conditions is exactly the same, and they are both located in the International Starry Sky Protection Zone.
